Sexual Abuse Survivor and Mother of Three
Tells What it Takes to Protect a Child…

Author of "Should I Tell My Secret?" tells your audience:

  • 5 myths of child sexual abuse and the one devastating truth
  • 3 reasons why most of us do not talk about sexual abuse with our children
  • What abusers rely on …
  • One thing to do today to help protect your children from sexual abuse
  • Why most children never report abuse
  • How to start the conversation of sexual abuse safely and effectively with a child
  • The age we should start talking about abuse
  • The one thing that those who are talking about abuse forget to mention
  • Signs to look for if a child is being abused
  • 7 things you need to do when a child tells you they have been abused
  • Not talking about abuse before and after is just as bad as the abuse itself

  • It is estimated 1/3 girls and 1/6 boys are sexually abused.  This means you most likely know a child who is living in silent turmoil.

  • 30 – 40% of children are abused by family members, 60% are abused by people the family trusts, only 10% are abused by strangers.
  • Average age of reported sexual abuse is 9 years old, 20% of victims or under age 8.
  • People who abuse look and act just like everyone else.  They often go out of their way to appear trust worthy.  This is the reason we need to know how to have the conversation of abuse safely and effectively with a child.
  • Child sexual abuse is a direct cause of problems facing society today.  Such as drug and alcohol addictions, mental illness, teen pregnancy, prostitution, and criminal acts including sexual crimes.

After dealing with and surviving sexual abuse herself, and having three children Collette realized the vast majority of those not talking about abuse with their kids just needed a simple tool to help them start the conversation, something that would take the fear out of it for both parties.
